Lu Lu’s Bar and Eatery

The Christchurch hospitality scene welcomes Lu Lu’s Bar and Eatery, a unique business dedicated to serving up Māori-infused kai with a twist. Peruse the menu – available in both English and Te Reo – which pays homage to local New Zealand produce from the farm, garden and sea including pāua from the Chatham Islands, Māori sourdough bread and hāngi-style kūmara bites. Round up the whānau and tuck into Lu Lu’s delectable fare.

KAI ITI (SMALL PLATES)

Pork n Watercress Croquettes Shredded pork bone meat infused with watercress, gribiche and celeriac slaw. $15

Rēwena Reuben Sandwich Mustard pastrami sauerkraut, corned beef Swiss cheese, homemade Lu Lu’s spicy sauce on toasted rēwena sourdough with fries. $15

TE MĀRA (THE GARDEN)

Hāngi Style Kūmara Bites MUST TRY Smoked mānuka hāngi style kūmara mixed with halloumi, red onion, chives, finished with sweet pickled cucumber and shallots. $12

Rongo’s Crop Goats cheese and porcini mousse, truffle crumb and the selection of beetroot and needle mushroom salad. $12

TE MOANA (THE SEA)

Native Nachos Crispy parāoa chips to dip in a bowl of creamed Chatham pāua and karengo. $22

Tangaroa’s Platter Selection of shellfish mussels, tuatua, pipis pappardelle, flat leaf parsley, cherry tomatoes, pecorino. $25

TE KĀINGA (THE GARDEN)

Taniwha Tacos Mussel fritter, homemade thousand island and karengo mayo. $20

KAI NUI (BIG PLATES)

Mīti and Rīwai Dry-rubbed 250g grass-fed ribeye, herb-infused Māori potatoes, porcini mushroom butter. Eggs optional. $25

Pōrangi Chicken SIGNATURE DISH Brined chicken with a ‘nutty’ twist. Sweet butternut pumpkin puree, edamame beans, shaved asparagus, hazelnut and red radish sprout salad. GF $20

PURINI (DESSERT)

Holy Purini! Hokey pokey cheesecake with mānuka honeycomb and butterscotch sauce. $15

Pīnati & Cream Vanilla panna cotta, peanut and pecan brittle, kawakawa syrup. $15
