With the small matter of six billion YouTube views, 70 million online followers, hundreds of thousands attending his sold-out tours and his firm stranglehold on album and single charts, Ed Sheeran is one of the biggest names in music right now. He’s now back in second-home New Zealand and playing three huge shows at each of Auckland’s Mt Smart Stadium and Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium as part of the world tour for latest album Divide.
These highly anticipated shows continue the world’s love affair with the singer-songwriter. Early Divide single ‘Castle On The Hill’ broke Spotify’s one-day streaming record with a combined 13 million streams in just 24 hours, and sell outs are anticipated to continue his record of selling out his every New Zealand concert to date.
He’ll play completely solo, taking the stage with only a guitar and effect pedals. The pull of this one-man band is an incredible experience to witness; layers of harmonies, rhythms and guitar parts cast out to a crowd of thousands who sing every lyric straight back to him, and serenading the crowd with the famous Sheeran charm.
These will be some of New Zealand’s biggest gigs of the year; don’t miss this musical superstar!
