Eight Songs for a Mad King

New Zealand Opera have a brand new production of Eight Songs for a Mad King, directed by Thomas de Mallet Burgess and designed by Robin Rawstorne, coming at the end of 2020. Witness a King in distress transform into a modern corporate everyman with an underlying tone of exploring the complicated relationship with mental health and power. The extraordinary score derives from the songs King George III played on his mechanical organ and Kiwi Robert Tucker using some out-of-this-world techniques to sing over five octaves.
