Ready to take your taste buds for a walk on the wild side? The world famous Hokitika’s annual Wildfoods Festival is sure to have something to sink your teeth in to.
Now in its 30th year, festival-goers can tuck into the out-there fare that puts the ‘wild’ in the festival’s name with colostrum shooters, possum kebabs, huhu grubs and ‘mountain oysters’ (lamb testicles) on the menu. For the less gastro-adventurous amongst us, there will be quintessential delicacies on offer including marinated tuna, whitebait patties, gourmet sausages, smoked salmon, wild game meats, traditional Māori hāngī and more.
Don’t forget to don your wildest costume and try your luck in the Feral Fashion competition.
A great chance to expose your palate to something new, and with music and cooking demos throughout the day, there’s never a dull moment.
