The Jazz and Blues Festival – Christchurch’s longest-running music festival – has this year received a new name and a new look. The Jazz & Cabaret Festival will launch in November and run for six days, bringing with it guaranteed entertainment and reflecting the energy of Christchurch, a contemporary boutique city.
The festival will feature 30 shows and more than 100 artists – the lineup will include amazing international artists and some of New Zealand’s best. It will showcase jazz, cabaret and comedy including cover bands, tribute shows and original music.
Some of the shows you’ll be able to catch include Both Sides Now, where Kiwi singer and musician Julia Deans channels the songs of Joni Mitchell, or Ali Harper, who will sing the Carole King songbook alongside Tom Rainey, Graham Wardrop and other NZ talent in her show The Natural Woman. You can also catch Aussie cabaret performer Michael Griffiths explore the colourful life and music of Cole Porter, or Tina Del Twist, who will bring some comedy and cabaret vibes.
