The Sleeping God Canyon The North Island’s highest waterfall … and New Zealand’s biggest canyoning adventure! Only 1½ hours from Auckland, a great adventure awaits you. Located near Thames in the Coromandel Peninsula, the Sleeping God Gorge drops 300 metres over a series of 12 waterfalls ranging from 10 to 70 metres high. Full instructions are given. The activity can be tailored from easy to challenging – big jumps and slides are optional and you will always be in control of your own descent while abseiling. You can also choose to be lowered by your guide.
