Andrew Landsdown from Bristol, UK back to stories

Published: June 09, 2010

Andrew Landsdown from Bristol, UK, recently spent 6 weeks travelling both islands and enjoyed sand boarding in Northland, black water rafting in Waitomo and his buffet at the top of the gondola in Queenstown!

Most amazing gastronomic experience: The buffet dinner at the restaurant at the top of the gondola in Queenstown. There's a huge selection of almost everything and it took us about 2 hours to get through all we could eat! Great views too.

The show-stopping view that took your breath away: Sitting in a helicopter flying over Franz Josef Glacier.

The adrenaline-rush that you'll never forget: Sand-boarding down the sand dunes in Cape Reinga. It's a steep climb to the top of each dune and pretty scary flying face first down on a body-board but such good fun!

Most blissfully relaxing moment: Relaxing in a private mud bath in Hells Gate, Rotoura.

The cultural experience that broadened your mind: Te Papa museum in Wellington is the best museum I've ever been to.

The experience you'll tell your grand-kids about: Going black water rafting in Waitomo, crawling through caves and floating along the water in underground caves on rubber rings, surrounded by glow worms
