During my first ever trip to Nelson, I took the water taxis out into the area around the Abel Tasman on the most beautiful sunny day! I only took the ferry halfway around the track, for what I thought was a reasonable hike. Pity, we finished it quite quickly in a few hours, wish I had done the kayak out and two day hike! Best of luck to those of you walking the Abel Tasman at the top of the South Island.
