If you would like to experience everyday Kiwi life first-hand, farm stays or home stays are a great option. New Zealand farm stays give you the opportunity to taste life on a genuine New Zealand working farm.

Many farm stays offer farm animal activities and farm tours. Explore the countryside on horseback or by 4WD, feed the animals, help in the shearing sheds and join in other farming activities such as mustering. Some farm stays offer full board in return for helping out on the farm. With Willing Workers on Organic Farms (WWOOF) you can make your stay an eco-friendly holiday and learn sustainable practices and skills while experiencing an authentic Kiwi lifestyle. Farm Helpers in NZ is a similar organisation, offering food and accommodation in exchange for a few hours’ work each day.
