Adrenaline-pumping Activities

  • nz information

New Zealand operators abide by the strictest of safety standards and quality control systems, so you can be assured that your adrenaline rush is as safe as possible.

In New Zealand, adrenaline-pumping activities can be enjoyed by people at a range of skill levels. There are thrills for brave (and not so brave!) beginners and there’s hard-core action for professionals.

New Zealand operators abide by the strictest of safety standards and quality control systems, so you can be assured that your adrenaline rush is as safe as possible.

Bungy Jumping

The most famous of New Zealand’s adventure activities is bungy jumping. In 1988 the world’s first commercial bungy jump opened at the Kawarau Bridge near Queenstown, and nowadays you can bungy all over New Zealand. Try a night jump, sample New Zealand’s highest water touch bungy or take a leap off the iconic Auckland Harbour Bridge – if you dare!

Skydiving

Skydiving, the biggest adrenaline rush of all, is even more spectacular in New Zealand due to the stunning NZ landscapes! Choose from golden beaches in the Bay of Islands, snow-capped mountain ranges around Queenstown or the volcanic ‘moonscapes’ near Lake Taupo. You can take lessons to jump solo or go tandem skydiving, and you can jump from as high as 15,000 feet, giving you a massive 60-second freefall!

Zorbing

Zorbing is a truly unmissable adventure which was invented in New Zealand. Strapped into an enormous air-cushioned plastic ball (the Zorb), participants are rolled down a slope at speeds of up to 30 kph – surprisingly comfortable and safe! You can get into the Zorb by yourself or with up to two mates. For an extra thrill and lots of slipping and sliding choose a wet Zorb; in summer your Zorb will be filled with cold water and in winter with warm water. A great place to try New Zealand Zorbing is Rotorua.

Adrenaline-pumping Water Activities

The island nation of New Zealand also offers a great range of adrenaline-pumping water activities. For details on black-water and white-water rafting, sledging, dam dropping and more, check out Water Activities.
