The whole of New Zealand is a party hot spot during the six weeks of the Rugby World Cup 2011. Here's the inside word on where some of the biggest parties will be held.  

 

Throughout New Zealand you'll find numerous dedicated Fanzones – official areas set aside for celebrating Rugby World Cup 2011.

 

Auckland Fanzones

Auckland’s four Fanzones are all free to enter and have big screens for watching the matches.

  • Queens Wharf (9 Sep – 23 Oct) Auckland Waterfront
  • Northern Lights (8, 9, 15, 16, 21 & 23 Oct) Albany Lakes
  • Outrageously West (8, 9, 15, 16, 21 & 23 Oct) The Trusts Stadium
  • Southern Seas (8, 9, 15, 16, 21 & 23 Oct) Mangere Town Centre

Wellington Fanzones

  • Wellington Official Fanzone (9 Sep – 9 Oct, 10am – 10pm) Odlins Plaza (next to the Wharewaka), Wellington Waterfront. Wellington’s official Fanzone offers live music and big screens to watch the Rugby action.
  • Civic Village Live Site (9 Sep – 9 Oct, various hours) Civic Square. A family-friendly space in which to enjoy the atmosphere of Rugby World Cup 2011.
  • Courtenay Place Live Site (8 & 9 Oct, 12pm – 10pm) Courtenay Place. During the quarter-final weekend, Courtenay Place will be closed to traffic and will buzz with entertainment and big screens.

Christchurch Fanzone

  • Christchurch Fanzone (9 Sep – 23 Oct) North Hagley Park. At the heart of the Fanzone is Stadium Christchurch, where you can watch Rugby World Cup 2011 on the big screen. The Fanzone is home to an inflatable dome that will feature a rugby museum, and there’ll also be live music, theatre and comedy.

Other Fanzones

There are Fanzones to discover throughout New Zealand; check out Hamilton (Hood Street), Rotorua (Energy Events Centre), New Plymouth (Puke Ariki), Napier (Municipal Theatre), Nelson (Upper Trafalgar Street) and Dunedin (Town Hall).


 

Queens Wharf Fanzone

The biggest Fanzone, right in the heart of Auckland City, has four main performance spaces: Forecourt, The Main Stage, RWC 2011 Fanzone – Shed 10 and The Cloud.
