It's been a long wait, but now the world’s 20 best Rugby teams are in New Zealand competing for the Webb Ellis Cup. Of course, all Kiwis are certain that the All Blacks will take it home! On average, the All Blacks win three out of four games, so hopes are high.
Half the thrill of Rugby is the fact that even the favourite teams can be toppled by an underdog so you never really know who's going to win, but here are some of the biggest teams to watch.
- Wallabies Probably New Zealand’s fiercest rivals, the Australian team currently ranks second. They won the Webb Ellis Cup in 1991 and 1999.
- Springboks The South African team is the current rugby world champion. They also took the Cup home in 1995.
- Les Bleus France is currently ranking third in the world, but so far they have never won the World Cup. They wear blue jerseys (‘bleu’ means ‘blue’).
- England Clad in white jerseys and shorts, the English team topped the podium in 2003. They are the fourth best team in the world.
- Scotland Ranking fifth, the Scottish team hasn’t made it to the finals yet, but they came fourth in 1991, losing against New Zealand.
