Expectations for the second Racers Edge-Volkl Big Air, to be held on Saturday 4 September, are high after the first Racers Edge-Volkl Big Air was a big success last weekend.
On Saturday, hundreds of spectators flocked to Treble Cone Ski Area to watch the ski and snowboard competition at the ski area’s Saddle Basin. Snowboarders and skiers took to the 40 foot big air jump, performing tricks such as Rodeo 5s, 1080s and corked spins. In the women’s snowboard competition Daniela Darilova came first while snowboarder Jim Dabbadrie topped the podium in the men’s section. In the men’s ski competition Wanaka locals Hamish McDougall and Fraser McDougall made it to first and second, with ten-year-old Finn Bilous and twelve-year-old Hank Bilous coming third and fourth.
The second Racers Edge-Volkl Big Air will be held as a separate competition and as a linked series event at the same time. The grand prize will be from Icebreaker.
