The 7in7 Challenge is back for 2010 and this year you can be part of it! The 7in7 Challenge is an awesome fundraising event for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation and features a massive seven marathons in seven days through some of the South Island’s most stunning scenery.
The 2010 7in7 Challenge kicks off on 28 November with a marathon from Lake Hawea to Glendhu Bay, which follows the picturesque Hawea River and Clutha Outlet Tracks plus the sweeping lakeshores of Lake Wanaka all the way to the beautiful Glendhu Bay. Organiser Mal Law anticipates this spectacular alpine marathon to attract the most runners. Celebrity runners will include TV personality and former rugby player Marc Ellis.
Day 2 features a 55-kilometre circuit along the Young River and Wilkin River including a challenging 1,700-metre climb over Gillespie Pass, and runners will be joined by multisport champ Richard Ussher.
Day 3 takes in the 49-kilometre Motatapu Trail from Glendhu Bay across stunning high country and gold-mining areas to Arrowtown, while Day 4 crosses the Wakatipu Wonderland in 38 kilometres and Day 5 features the 61-kilometre Rees to Dart Circuit. The penultimate day takes participating runners from Greenstone to Mavora, and the final day of the 7in7 Challenge features the 60-kilometre Kepler Challenge in Fiordland.
Mal Law will run all seven marathons himself and hopes that as many people as possible join in the great fundraising runs. If you’re up for it, you can register here.
