Good news is flooding in from earthquake-stricken Christchurch. The main cordon in the city centre has been lifted, buses, coaches and trains are back to normal, and repair works are running smoothly.
The Court Theatre, an iconic Christchurch institution, has also re-opened its doors and is back with exhilarating plays. The opening night for The Court Theatre’s latest play, Don’t Mention Casablanca, has been rescheduled for Saturday 18 September.
Don’t Mention Casablanca is an autobiographical drama and tribute to playwright Michelanne Forster’s grandmother, Thilde Forster, and is directed by Ross Gumbley. Thilde (Lara Macgregor) is a rebellious young Jewish woman. In 1930s Vienna she is forced to leave her son under the looming shadow of Hitler. In search of a better life for her family, the brave woman goes on a journey which covers continents!
Tickets for Don’t Mention Casablanca cost $45 for adults, $26 for students and $15 for school children, and they are available at The Court Theatre (20 Worcester Boulevard, Christchurch) or online.
Don’t Mention Casablanca: 18 September – 9 October 2010
