Here in New Zealand we celebrate Christmas in the middle of summer and we love to party big! Right now, Christchurch and Auckland are gearing up for two of the biggest and most spectacular nights of musical entertainment. The annual Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park is scheduled for 27 November in Christchurch and 11 December in Auckland.

Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park is all about great music, big entertainment, fireworks and Christmas, of course. And the best thing is that it’s free to attend! Taking place from 7:30pm in Christchurch’s Hagley Park and the Auckland Domain respectively, the concerts will showcase the regions’ most talented and famous entertainers.

The Christchurch line-up includes Ali Harper, Naomi Ferguson, Michael Sharp with students from St Margaret’s College’s Dance Academy, Lissel Stewart with Henare Kaa and J. Williams. Aucklanders can look forward to Michael Murphy and Rebecca Wright, The Patea Maori Club, Tami Neilson with Nick Major and a moving performance of John Lennon’s Happy Christmas, War is Over from a group of great singers including Juliagrace, Tamara Rickett, Danielle Rana and Edward Laurenson.

Since the beginning, the mega event (now in its 17th year!) has raised over $2 million for charity and in 2010 all funds raised will go to Surf Life Saving. What a very happy Christmas!
