Want to help Christchurch get back on its feet while having a blast? Then we have just the right event for you. Tonight, at 7pm is kickoff for the fundraising event Legends of League in Auckland’s Mount Smart Stadium. Rugby league legends from both sides of the Tasman will line up for the game of a lifetime to raise funds for the Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.
While people down in Christchurch have rolled up their sleeves to tackle the rebuild of the beautiful Garden City, the likes of Tawera Nikau, Kurt Sorensen, Stacey Jones, Olsen Filipaina, Nathan Cayless and Hugh McGahan will take to the rugby pitch to raise as much money as possible. All proceeds from the Legends of League match, including the evening’s bucket collection, will go towards the cause.
But it’s not only the sports heroes who agreed to pitch in. New Zealand musicians to entertain the crowds from 5:30pm are Che Fu, Jason Kerrison, the ReQuest Dance Crew and Vince Harder. Gates open at 5pm and tickets for the Legends of League are available at Ticketek for NZ$20. Children twelve and under are free.
