If you need New Zealand travel information and advice online, www.destination-nz.com has all the details you could possibly need, but how about if you’d like to chat to someone in person? For on-the-ground travel information there is the i-SITE Visitor Information network.

However, things have been a little different in Christchurch lately. Since March, the Christchurch City i-SITE had been located temporarily in the foyer of the Chateau on the Park Hotel. But now the Christchurch i-SITE has found a new home and the team are getting ready to move. The new i-SITE premises will be beside the Canterbury Museum at the entrance to the Botanic Gardens.

The Christchurch City i-SITE will be housed on the lawn on Rolleston Avenue in temporary buildings. The new premises are planned to open in late September and remain in place for at least one year. Christchurch & Canterbury Tourism Chief Executive Tim Hunter says: “This high-profile site ticks all the boxes because it is close to coach and bus parking, it is very visible, easy to find, secure at night, and it’s close to attractions such as the Botanic Gardens, Hagley Park Events Village and Punting on the Avon.”

i-SITE Visitor Information Centres provide info and booking services for locals and visitors. Christchurch’s new i-SITE will be open seven days a week from 8:30am till 5pm, with longer hours in summer months. Apart from activity, transport and accommodation information, the i-SITE also provides a ticketing service for most major Christchurch events.

Jeff the Kiwi – Advisor
