It’s June and that means it’s time for the renowned New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards in Gore in Southland. The 2011 New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards event kicks off today and goes on until Sunday 5 June.

Now in its 38th year, this music event attracts artists from around the globe and features several music award ceremonies, heaps of concerts and busking competitions.

While the Gore Gold Guitar Week hosts a variety of local and international artists, it’s also a great platform for newcomers. The Freeze Ya Bits Off busking auditions are open to everyone. Award ceremonies of the Gold Guitar Week include the NZ Country Music Awards (2 June), the NZ Gold Guitar Awards Intermediate and Junior Finals (4 June), the NZ Gold Guitar Awards 40+ Finals (5 June) and the Southland Times Newslink Senior Finals (5 June).
