VIP alert at The Court Theatre in Christchurch! The last episodes of Outrageous Fortune’s final series are just aired on telly, but while the curtain will fall for the super-successful TV series, it’s certainly not the last we’ve seen of Antonia Prebble AKA Loretta West.

The young actress is currently rehearsing at The Court Theatre! After auditioning in Auckland, Antonia Prebble landed the lead role for The Court’s brand-new production, Cabaret. The Outrageous Fortune star will play the role of Sally Bowles, a nightclub singer in 1930s Berlin, and she can’t wait for 20 November, when the musical will premiere. Antonia is looking forward to both the challenge and adrenaline rush of performing live on stage: “You’re not only giving so much energy to the audience, but receiving it right back from them tenfold!”

Cabaret is set in the Berlin nightclub Kit Kat Klub in the 1930s. In-house singer Sally Bowles develops a relationship with writer Cliff Bradshaw (Cameron Douglas) amidst Germany’s dark times as Nazism rises. Taking on the role of Sally, Antonia follows in the footsteps of Liza Minnelli – in 1972, Cabaret, one of the most popular musicals of all times, was made into a movie starring Liza! And Cabaret’s director Sandra Rasmussen is confident that Antonia will live up to the high expectations: “Antonia is a gifted young actress who managed to capture the emotional complexity of Sally Bowles – she's gorgeous, talented and extremely smart.”

If you would like to see Antonia perform for yourself, make sure you book your tickets at The Court Theatre. Cabaret will run from 20 November through to 12 February 2011.
