I’ve just been in Taranaki and G-TARanaki is BIG news there! It starts today and runs until the 15th (of August). The biggest news is that Slash is coming! Yep, the one and only wild-haired, top hat-toting musician with the ability to do things with a guitar that just about defy description. From Guns N’ Roses to Velvet Revolver, he’s inspired many an aspiring musician to pick up a guitar (no doubt a whole new generation since featuring on Guitar Hero III: Legend of Rock!!). Another big name that has everyone talking is the gorgeous Jennifer Batten, Michael Jackson’s lead guitarist on three world tours.

The hottest tickets are the Midnight Sessions; 11 pm to 2 am in the fantastic venue of Puke Ariki (New Plymouth’s beautiful, contemporary museum/info centre/café on the waterfront). Imagine a small crowd of about 300 listening to the likes of Slash ripping it out – it would be one hell of a party! (I’d love to be going!). Slash will also feature in an afternoon concert at TSB stadium on Saturday 14 August. And if Slash and Jennifer Batten don’t rock you, there’s plenty else that will – Uli Jon Roth, Guy Pratt, Vinnie Moore, The Checks …

Get thee to Ticketmaster and book your tickets immediately!
