New Zealand’s capital city is compact yet sophisticated and stylish, offering cultural experiences in a beautiful setting of harbour and bush-clad hills.

Wellington is city chic on nature’s doorstep, an urban oasis just a stone’s throw from the great outdoors. The city will steal your heart as you take in its stunning harbour setting with bush-clad hills all around and old wooden houses rubbing shoulders with sparkling glass towers – it really is utterly unique. Shopping, dining and culture abound with funky shops, exciting galleries and great restaurants all within walking distance of the city centre. As home to many of New Zealand’s performing arts organisations, you can easily spend a fantastic evening at a live show or concert and then stroll along the waterfront.

Right on the city’s doorstep are two very different escapes: head north to Kapiti for a remarkable wildlife experience on an island sanctuary or east to sample the latest vintage in a picturesque wine-growing region.
