Riccarton Motor Lodge
The perfect place to relax after an exciting day’s exploring.
The four-star Riccarton Motor Lodge is the perfect place to rest your weary head after a day of thrilling Christchurch activities. It has 16 stylish units including studios, executive spa studios and one- and two-bedroom spa units, all outfitted with king beds to fall into after a relaxing soak.
Location-wise, it straddles the best of both worlds: it’s in a quiet, leafy residential area, but it’s centrally located for all your Christchurch adventures. A five-minute drive in one direction gets you to Christchurch International Airport and the must-see International Antarctic Centre. Five minutes in the other direction is the bustling city centre, jam-packed with boutique shopping, trendy laneways filled with cafes, restaurants, bars, and a range of fascinating museums and art galleries.
On foot, it’s a short walk into the heart of Riccarton where you’ll find some of Christchurch’s most relaxing cafes and enough restaurants to keep you full no matter how long your stay is. You’ll also find Riccarton Mall, which can take care of all your shopping needs. And on Saturdays, it’s just a 15-minute stroll to the legendary Christchurch Farmers’ Market located on the banks of the gorgeous Avon River in among 1.8 hectares of protected native bush.
Riccarton Motor Lodge is perfectly placed for events too: nearby you’ve also got the University of Canterbury, Addington Raceway and Horncastle Arena. If you find yourself with some time off, it’s a short trip into Hagley Park and Golf Course, and the luscious botanic gardens.
It’s Kiwi owned and operated and renowned for lovely local hospitality, and the motel operates on three principles: clean, comfortable and kind. One online reviewer put it perfectly: “A very warm welcome by the owner, who could not have been more helpful. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, which after 36 hours of travelling, was the icing on the cake.” Another noticed that it was the little things that count: “We appreciated that owners had turned on the heat pump before we came in so the rooms were warm. Also appreciated being upgraded, unasked, to a 2 bedroom unit rather than the one room we’d booked.”
The units have everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Each one has a kitchen, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning and central heating. Riccarton Motor Lodge has free on-site parking, and the whole site is certified and fire and building safe.
