Perched above the blue waters of Lake Ohau in the Mackenzie country, the Ohau Snow Fields has a reputation for its super-friendly vibe and uncrowded slopes. The mountain caters for all abilities – there’s a fun snow mat for learners, a double chairlift accessing a wide flat area for intermediates, and great hiking for those wanting to access the wide powder bowls and chutes in the wider area. Most intermediate skiers are now able to enjoy the flat wide slopes at the top of the mountain and cruise down the Boulevard very comfortably. The more adventurous can access the best powder snow and magnificent views around the tops of the field. Lake Ohau Lodge at the bottom of the access road offers not only friendly hospitality and great food, but also combo deals on lift prices, and is famous for its winter events – in particular the legendary Ohau Snow Ball, which is not to be missed!
